Improving Internet safety and security is a complex process involving many different groups: users, software vendors (of both standard operating systems and security tools), Internet Service Providers, on-line businesses, law enforcement and legislators.
This presentation will look at the challenges for a safer Internet such as users who become too nervous about their own safety that will not benefit from all the Internet can offer, excessive protection measures implemented by software vendors and ISPs that can easily harm user privacy or introduce censorship and businesses that demand unreasonable security measures may become uncompetitive. Also, legislation that punishs the creation or distribution of "hacking tools" may discourage the development of more tools to create a safer and more secure Internet. What are the solutions?

This presentation will look at the regulatory landscape and how it helps (and sometimes hinders) the development of a safer, more secure Internet. This presentation will also provide you with practical advice on how to meet governance and compliance requirements.
